This is a self-portrait series about what people have personally said to me about my body and how I should act in society. Even though the things people have told me stick with me, I don't let them affect me. It's impressive that family, friends, and even strangers say the wildest things about my body and how I act when it's none of their business. This series represents me and all of the women who are told what to do and are breaking free from stereotypical "female ways."
I embroidered on top of the prints to represent what people have said. The embroidering helps exemplify what I have been told, but it plays on the role of women who are supposed to do the homely duties.
